Coming from diverse musical backgrounds, the members of Zabalka have come together around a common project and a common desire: to explore traditional Eastern European music as it was played at the beginning of the 20th century, and to offer audiences the vitality of these pieces. Gypsy music, of course, but also the Klezmer tradition and, more broadly, Balkan folklore. Zabalka's repertoire ranges from Ukraine to Greece, via Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Armenia, alternating the moods, colors and energies of each country.
