Description

Always inspired by flowers and nature, which he increasingly likes to deconstruct and somehow explode into fragments to represent their vitality and vivacity, like many artists Stephen Clary likes to work on series. The one he developed in 2023 was inspired by the Marais Poitevin, where he has been based since March 2022. As if composed of layers of stained glass, his paintings depict the magnificent waterscape that surrounds us in the Marais. Drawing on decades of study of plants and flowers,

Stephen uses his signature techniques: successive layers, vibrant colors, a certain tension in the line, to depict the changing light and elusive form of this beautiful region. His Cubist and Futurist inspirations are apparent in the fragmentation of space and form. Trees are sometimes depicted from different angles, as if seen simultaneously from the front, from the side, from top to bottom. This approach gives an impression of movement and dynamism, while evoking the diversity of nature. Ultimately, his work seeks to explore the tension between our desire to control and manipulate nature and the deep-seated desire to connect with the natural world on his own terms. In 2024 Stephen developed a new series inspired by the oyster huts of the Ile d'Oléron and Marennes. Rather than depicting them realistically, he takes them out of context to plunge us into the reflections of the water, of his imagination, and by the same token of our own.

Laurence Clary is the self-taught creator of the hand-painted jewelry brand "Quai des Fleurs". She makes unique, hand-painted paper jewelry inspired by her love of color and originality. She firmly believes that a woman should wear what makes her happy, makes her feel good about herself, and incidentally enhances her day - and that of the people she meets! In

In this spirit, her creations are cheerful, full of life and color, and always with "a little glitter". Laurence paints her paper and embellishes it with gold/silver/copper leaf before assembling the pieces with glass beads. She then resins the jewels she has created, so that they retain their resistance to humidity. So, unlike traditional origami, her creations can be worn in all weathers! Laurence also makes her own paper beads, with which she creates bracelets, paints wooden washers and creates jewelry and objects using the Victorian decoupage technique.

Each of her creations is, of course, unique.
