Descriptif

Description of the kiln owned by the Commune:

Its diameter is approximately 2.60 m

Its refractory brick vault (3500 bricks) supports around 2 to 3 tons of sand.

The oven was used by our ancestors to cook meat (pork) and occasionally bread.

Today, the oven is used 3 times a year:

Twice for the FÊTES DU FOUR (Open House), where bread (country balls ~400 grams), pâté (pork ~350 grams) and merveilles (doughnuts) are sold.

Once for the PIQUE-NIQUE (around 300 people in the rue du four).

She makes her oven available to cook meat, fish and cakes for all guests.

The oven is fuelled by bundles of vine shoots (called "trousses" in the local dialect), meaning "to bundle".

The oven is heated for a week before the village festivities.

The oven heats up gradually.
