Discovery outing Dune biodiversity and the red-necked gravelot
Dates & opening times
Description
As part of the partnership between the Communauté de Communes de l'île d'Oléron's Espaces Naturels department and the LPO, coordinator of the Interrupted Ring-necked Plover monitoring program commissioned by the Parc Naturel Marin de l'Estuaire de la Gironde et de la mer des Pertuis, the CCIO's Espaces Naturels department is responsible for monitoring and marking the nests of the Interrupted Ring-necked Plover in the northern half of the Ile d'Oléron.
This small shorebird arrives in mid-March to breed on the Ile d'Oléron, which is home to 70% of the département's breeding population, or ¼ of the Parc Naturel Marin's breeding population.
Come and discover this protected species, which makes its home on the upper beaches to lay its eggs and raise its chicks, as well as the various actions taken to ensure cohabitation between this species and us local holidaymakers who live on the same beaches.
