Maison des Initiatives et des Services (MIS)
This public reception and guidance center is housed in the building of the former Caisse d'Épargne de Marennes. Founded in 1890, it was one of the town's oldest financial establishments.
Historic site and monument
Descriptif
Marennes has a long history of banking activity. It is due to the wealth generated by salt, then by oyster farming.
The building is imposing and richly decorated. The entrance door is surmounted by a cartouche bearing the company name. Above, a large sculpted pediment depicts the town's unstylized coat of arms (a galley with oars, sail outstretched and sailing on the water).
At the top are 3 fire pots.
Not open to the public.
