Descriptif

Modest in size, the historic heart of La Brée-les-Bains is sheltered behind a small dune.

A few streets slope steeply down to the beach. And it's this close relationship with the sea that is part of the resort's charm.

Pierre Loti once vacationed here. He wrote about it at length in "Le roman d'un enfant":

"We had gone to stay in a fishing village absolutely ignored and lost in those days...a village of low houses, as whitewashed as the kasbahs of Algeria and surrounded by certain species of flowers that can withstand the sea wind...".

In those days, beautiful houses flourished, occupied in summer by the bourgeoisie and surrounded by land tended by farmers.
