Descriptif

The trail from Boyardville to Saint-Denis d'Oléron takes you through the heart of the Saumonards forest. At the start, you'll see the famous Fort Boyard, with the islands of Ile d'Aix, Fourras and Ile Madame in the distance. Along the way, you'll also come across the port of Douhet and the Pointe du Prouard.

As you pass along the beach and dunes, keep an eye out for birds. The long-necked gravelot nests on the dunes. Observe them from a distance, but be careful not to disturb them.

The forest is also home to many bird species, including the short-eared owl. From May to August, its call can be heard from dusk onwards.
