Descriptif
Boyardville dates back to the early 19th century, when the famous Fort Boyard was built, giving its name to the village a few kilometers offshore. Today, it is one of France's best-known monuments.
But Boyardville has many other treasures. La Maison Heureuse, for example, a vast complex built in 1803 to house the stores and lodgings of the engineers, soldiers, craftsmen and workers who worked on Fort Boyard. In the 1920s, it was converted into a vacation camp.
Or the oyster-farming site of Fort Royer, an authentic oyster-farming village with undeniable charm. There are even a few oyster huts where you can sample local oysters!
Not to mention the superb Boyardville beach, with its golden sands bordered by the Saumonards national forest. Or the "Chenal de La Perrotine", which was once very useful for the salt and wine trade...
