Descriptif

Born at the end of the 19th century, seaside architecture developed especially after 1936 with the first paid vacations. This seaside architecture can be seen in Saint-Georges d'Oléron and Saint-Trojan-les-Bains, pioneering towns for tourism in Oléron.

It's in Saint-Trojan-les-Bains, in the area around the boulevard de la Plage, that it's best appreciated.

English-inspired cottages or Basque-inspired chalets, the seaside district has established itself on the seafront, completely independent of the original village.

On the same façade, the seaside district allows for a variety of materials, including stone, wood, brick and colored earthenware, with painted plant or floral motifs.
