Sports tourism

With its many beaches ideal for water sports, hiking trails and cycle paths, the Ile d'Oléron and Marennes basin attract a large number of visitors in search of adventure and nature. This influx of sports enthusiasts of all levels directly benefits the local economy. The tourist office invites you to become a partner in various sporting events organized in the area. Are you ready?

Lodgers, become partners in the chemin d'Oléron project

The Chemin d'Oléron is a 105km hiking trail that circles the entire island. It allows hikers to discover the diversity of the island's landscapes at their own pace, passing through beaches, marshes and forests.
Open in July 2023, this hiking trail is already a great success.
If you would like to become a partner, please consult the "chemin d'Oléron" charter and contact Marianne Ribière m.ribiere@ile-oleron-marennes.com

Welcoming groups and clubs

In recent years, the island of Oleron has become a popular destination for sports groups and clubs wishing to carry out their training courses.

The Oumière sports complex, which has been awarded the title of preparation center for the Paris 2024 Games, and the Boyardville departmental sports center offer high-quality facilities for clubs of all levels in a variety of disciplines: handball, badminton, judo, athletics, soccer, gymnastics, table tennis, etc.

Over the past few years, the French U19 and U21 men's handball teams, the Spanish U19 handball team, the C'Chartre Métropole handball team, runner Amandine Brossier, the French adapted table tennis team, table tennis player Sarah Hanffou and 150 apprentices from ANDSA have all used the Oleron sports facilities.

Sporting events

In February 2023, Oleron's intercommunal sports office was relaunched. The tourist office joined forces with the association's board members to support the first Ile d'Oléron ultra-trail, which took place in April 2024.
In addition to this major event, the Ile d'Oléron and the Marennes basin are also host to a number of sport-nature projects: Fort Boyard Trail, Explor'Run, Oleron Triathlon, Tour de Charente Maritime à la voile...
As project managers, we can help you set up your events on the island of Oleron and in the Marennes basin. We'll put you in touch with the key players, coordinate your events, provide you with a list of service providers and help you communicate with them... We'll do everything we can to support you.

Are you a host, leisure activity provider or restaurant owner who would like to become a partner in this project and welcome the sports teams to your premises? Do you run sporting events in the region and would like to discuss possible support? Contact Marianne Ribière m.ribiere@ile-oleron-marennes.com
